Getting a job in Web3
Book NFTs 🚀
Spotify joins Web3 🎵
Death of the movie star 🎬
The most important habit you can build
1. The Easiest Way to Get a Non-Technical Job in Web3
(coming from a guy who works in Web3 full-time)
💻 Create Content
(lots of it)
Make it impossible for folks to ignore your talents - show everyone what you can do!
➡️ Write 🧵s
➡️ Start a newsletter
➡️ Make videos
➡️ Publish on Twitter AND LinkedIn
➡️ Start a podcast
➡️ Make memes
💼 This advice applies equally to full-time and freelance ambitions.
It doesn't matter if you're looking to ghostwrite as a side hustle or gain a full-time Content Marketing position...
➡️ Your potential employer/client will 100% audit your social media profiles to see what you can do.
So make sure your socials are lookin' crispy.
For me...
➡️ It wasn't until I doubled down on Web3 content that job opportunities presented themselves.
I made content creation a habit.
➡️ I wrote and continue to write every 👏 damn 👏 day.
Let's talk about opportunities...
(or lack thereof) 👀
I’ll be blunt - opportunities are few and far between right now. 👎
📉 We're in a bear market, and money is limited.
📈 But, the second cash flows back into the market, projects will once again invest in content superstars.
👑 Quality content is invaluable in the Web3 space.
So get your game on point NOW - in the bear.
That way, you'll be ready to CRUSH IT - in the bull.
🤔 My final advice is this...
Prove to the world that you can create kickass content on your own socials first.
➡️ And then go monetize your skills out in the wild!
Let's get to work! 🤝
2. Book NFTs are the Future 📚🚀
Book NFTs are a SLAM DUNK.
➡️ They make the most logical sense as a use-case for Web3 technology.
It's not an aggressive leap to go from Kindle Readers to NFTs. 🤷♂️
I mean, think about it…
Books are an incredibly powerful form of media.
For centuries, books have been used to:
➡️ tell stories,
➡️ share knowledge, and
➡️ express creativity.
Tokenizing books provides authors, collectors, and fans with an unbeatable opportunity.
📚 With NFTs, authors can make more money from their hard work by cutting out the middleman and issuing a limited number of tokens or even ‘premium’ editions.
📚 Collectors can take pride in owning one-of-a-kind NFTs that may be worth more than standard physical copies due to their scarcity, making them more desirable investments for any literature enthusiast.
📚 Readers can interact with their favorite content in novel ways. NFT ownership allows readers to join an amazing community and discover unique possibilities like attending token-gated events or participating in airdrops.
Book NFTs are the perfect marriage of Web3 technology and literature, creating an innovative way to enjoy our favorite reads.
I'm excited to see this market grow.
3. Spotify Jumps into Web3
Spotify is testing NFT-gated playlists. 🤯
➡️ It's a sexy headline, I know.
The number one streaming platform is experimenting with Web3 technology - it's great news for the Web3 space, no doubt.
🙅♂️ But this isn't a catalyst moment for Music NFTs.
More people need to have Web3 wallets for this to spark any institutional shift.
✅ But the feature is a nifty utility nonetheless.
Spotify’s Web3 feature enables certain NFT holders to experience curated playlists.
All you have to do is connect your Web3 wallet to Spotify. If certain NFTs exist in your wallet, you'll gain access to special playlists.
For now, the feature is in Beta and only available to holders within the Fluf, Moonbirds, Kingship, and Overlord communities.
As Web3 tech advances and grows in popularity, more Web2 platforms will experiment.
But get comfortable because the road to mass adoption is LONG.
➡️ And be sure to buckle up because the road is bound to get bumpy.
4. Wave Goodbye to Movie Stars 👋
Are movie stars dead?
🤓 For more than two decades, I've been an avid movie fan. I've also had the amazing opportunity to work in different aspects of film production.
➡️ Here are my two cents...
🎬 Entertainment is becoming super specialized these days - from streaming services tailored to individual tastes to tech developments allowing us to customize our viewing and listening experiences.
🧮 The result is fractionalized entertainment!
👈 Before streaming services, movie stars were arguably WAY more relevant in the entertainment industry.
💻 But now, with the increasing availability of individualized forms of entertainment and content creation, those same movie stars are becoming less prominent.
🤩 Gone are the days when names like Will Smith or Brad Pitt would bring hundreds of millions into box offices for subpar movies.
🎞️ Now, on the big screen, it's all about IP.
🦸♀️ Brands like Marvel and Star Wars run the show.
🤷♂️ Everything else has been fractionalized into entertainment pockets, like:
🎥 Netflix
🎥 Hulu
🎥 Disney+
🎥 HBO Max
🎥 TikTok
🎥 YouTube
🎥 Snapchat
The list goes on and on
🙅♂️ The point is…
We'll never see movie stars with as much prominence and celebrity as we did in the 90s and early 2000s.
🖥️ Audiences worldwide have realized they no longer rely on major stars for entertainment. Instead, they can enjoy their favorite shows and movies from smaller creators online.
🤔This isn't necessarily a bad thing.
😄 Fractionalization allows for fresher voices to gain recognition in the industry.
☠️ Still, it also means that the golden age of Hollywood movie stars is dead and gone.
5. Writing Every Day is the Most Important Habit You Can Build
Writing every day will give you the edge in life you've been craving.
It’ll enhance your creativity, increase your social capital, and position you as a thought leader within your industry.
🧑🎨 Enhance Your Creativity
Writing is thinking - it’s like a mental exercise that encourages you to fully articulate your creative thoughts.
🚀 Skyrocket Your Social Capital
Writing on social media allows you to practice in public.
➡️ As you get better, you'll gain a reputation online.
That reputation will extrovert itself in the form of followers and engagement - all of which is social capital that you can leverage in the future.
Plus, having an abundance of written content gives potential employers something tangible to evaluate when hiring.
🦸♀️ Position Yourself as a Thought Leader
People who write every day are more likely to become thought leaders in their industries.
➡️ This can open up opportunities that would’ve otherwise been unavailable.
Writing has helped me in every facet of my life - from creative fulfillment to financial security. And it all started with forming a simplewriting habit.
S0, take my advice and make writing a part of your routine!
