1. Gala | The Web3 Entertainment Meca
Web3 is the next iteration of the internet that enables users to own their experiences.
And Gala has every base on the entertainment ball field covered:
🎮 Gaming
🎵 Music
🎬 Film
Let's take a closer look...
🎮 Gaming:
Gala's gaming arm gives users unprecedented:
freedom,
control, and
rewards.
Gala's gaming assets live on the blockchain, so everything you earn or win is yours.
They're already up and running with several games in their marketplace.
"Grit," Gala's upcoming Western-themed game, looks incredible.
🎵 Music:
Gala revolutionized Music in the digital age by bringing ownership back to artists, fans, and enthusiasts.
It's electronic liberation: no more centralized control over your favorite tunes - just you, making your own listening experience.
Very cool. 👏🏼
Gala Music even partnered with the legendary Snoop Dogg.
👉 They made music history when they debuted Snoop's new song on the blockchain.
🎬 Film:
Gala Films is revolutionizing the movie-watching experience by letting fans participate in its making.
Fans can shape what they're watching by voting on scripts and casting choices - it's their own virtual entertainment playground.
Filmmakers now have more control over their works and direct access to those who appreciate it best: the audience.
🚨 Unfortunately, Gala Films got mixed up in some drama this past week.
And it involved The Rock and Mark Wahlberg. 👀
Here's the tea:
Gala tweeted about upcoming projects with The Rock and Mark Wahlberg.
The Gala community was PUMPED about the news (GALA token 📈)
The Gala team freaked out and deleted the tweet.
The community was like, “WTF?” (GALA token 📉)
Gala revealed they have contracts with The Rock and Marky Mark BUT regret tweeting about it.
It turns out the tweet was misleading since the projects under contract are documentaries that have nothing to do with the actors themselves.
The contracts are with the actors' production companies (Seven Bucks Productions & Unrealistic Ideas).
Gala was right to delete the tweet. It looked like they were trying to generate hype from misleading alpha.
Nonetheless, a Web3 project teaming up with legit Hollywood production companies is bullish news.
Curious about the tech side of things?
Let's get nerdy for a second.
The GALA platform utilizes decentralized computing power to ensure its network remains:
secure,
stable, and
cost-efficient.
The Gala Network is supported by users who operate Gala Nodes from their home computers (currently over 16,000). It's an essential part of how all this works.
Node operators earn daily rewards for protecting the network - it's a win-win for everyone involved.
Gala is revolutionizing the entertainment industry with its decentralized economy.
And all this ain't cheap. Billions of dollars have gone into developing their Web3 meca.
Creators, players, artists, fans, and supporters benefit from Gala's Web3 approach to entertainment, eliminating many challenges in these industries.
With GALA's ambitious goals, there's plenty of work ahead.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they pull it off!
2. Talent Agencies Drool Over NFT Projects
Why on earth are talent agencies like UTA, CAA, and WME signing NFT projects?
Talent agencies are companies that typically represent:
🎭 Actors,
🎶 Musicians,
🏀 Athletes, and
🎙️ Other public figures in the entertainment industry.
But NFT projects too?
That's new. 🤔
What exactly do talent agencies do again?
They act as intermediaries between their clients and the employers who hire them.
Agencies help their clients secure opportunities and negotiate contracts.
Typically, talent agencies will sign clients with a certain level of experience or skill that makes them desirable in the market.
AKA - If they think they can make money off you, they'll sign you.
As NFTs continue to explode across mainstream audiences, companies like UTA, WME, and CAA have begun signing major NFT projects.
Projects scoring significant deals include:
UTA has an entire division devoted to Web3 projects - run by Lesley Silverman.
Even talent managers are getting in on the action.
Bored Ape Yacht Club and World of Women signed with Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary.
But what are these NFT projects hoping to gain by signing with talent agencies and managers? 🤔
They want access to lucrative opportunities within the entertainment industry and think Hollywood's heavy-hitting agencies can get it done.
And you know what? They're probably right.
NFT projects are storytelling brands. They have characters and lore ripe for mass publication. Many projects have already dropped comic books and animated short films.
Talent agencies can help expand NFT projects across media verticals such as:
🌐 Web3,
🎬 Film,
📺 TV,
💻 Digital,
🎮 Gaming, and
🗣️ Live events.
These opportunities will give NFT projects an at-bat in the big leagues.
A handful of NFT projects will grow into entertainment juggernauts.
But which ones will succeed? Your guess is as good as mine. But regardless, it'll be fun to watch.
3. Monday Motivation | Unleash Your Content Creation Powers with Self-Awareness
Self-awareness can help you create better content.
Here’s why…
Confidence is Key:
You produce better content when you're confident.
But gaining confidence is easier said than done.
Self-awareness is the best way to get there!
When you take the time to understand who you are and what makes your content unique, you'll boost your faith in yourself and your work. You'll also care less what others think.
That'll give you the freedom to be your most creative self.
Empathy Matters:
Crafting great content is more than just slapping something together that looks good.
It's about conveying a message that resonates with people.
Empathy is essential in meaningful content creation. You need to understand how others think and feel.
But this requires knowing yourself first.
When you're aware of your values and beliefs, you can easily step into someone else's shoes and create something special for them.
Clarify Your Why:
Creating content without understanding why results in 💩.
Before you write down a single word, ask yourself...
"Why the hell am I doing this?" 🤔
This question will force you to zero in on your intentions.
As a result, your words will be genuine instead of contrived.
4. Gary Vee Starts a Production Company
Gary Vee is making a splashy entrance into Hollywood.
And he's bringing NFTs along for the ride.
Gary Vee, the groundbreaking entrepreneur and creator of VeeFriends NFTs, joined forces with Eric Wattenberg from CAA and Matt Higgins of RSE Ventures to form a revolutionary new production studio.
They're calling it...
💥 Vaynerwatt 💥
This dynamic trio is ready to make its mark on the entertainment world! They plan to develop content for streaming services and networks.
Vaynerwatt is Gary's first official production company.
🌐 You're kidding yourself if you think Vaynerwatt won't incorporate Web3 into this venture. Gary runs one of the most successful NFT projects (VeeFriends) and intends to tell stories with his roster of characters.
He hopes VeeFriends becomes the next Disney.
With that in mind, you know he's gunning to produce studio-quality VeeFriends content.
If anyone takes NFTs mainstream, it'll be Gary Vee.
The man is PASSIONATE about NFTs and their potential impact on the entertainment industry.
📈 Vaynerwatt is hyper-bullish news.
Get ready for some serious innovation as Gary takes on Tinseltown.
5. Tweet of the Week
“Build Your Realm” is the official Game of Thrones NFT project.
And if you read my newsletter last week, you know the scoop.
Well, the project launched, and uh…
It became the laughing stock of Web3.
And it was all because of this…
One of the most successful movie studios in the world drops an NFT Collection, and THIS is what we get?
🤦
To be fair, this is only one of the characters from the collection. The rest seemed to have normal fingers. But even still, I expected better. A LOT better.
Despite NFT Twitter making fun of it all week, this project still has potential. The GoT team responded to the disaster with a bit of self-deprecation - which is why their post above makes my “Tweet of the Week.”
But man, those hands are hilariously horrific. 😂
That’s a wrap for today. See y’all next week! If that’s too long to wait (it probably is), be sure to follow me on Twitter (@BrendanBald)
