Gm, and welcome to Bald & Bullish, the hub for creator alpha to help you thrive on social media.
How to Unleash Your Creative Beast
Do you want to write content that people wish they could retweet twice?
Here's what you do.
Get up, get out, and live a little.
Writers need things to write about.
Legendary copywriter Joseph Sugarman puts it perfectly in his Copywriting Handbook…
"The best copywriters in the world are those who:
are curious about life,
read a great deal,
have many hobbies,
like to travel,
have a variety of interests,
often master many skills,
get bored and then look for other skills to master."
Experiences create ideas.
Staring at your computer screen creates anxiety.
The more experiences you have, the more information you can draw from.
You'll find your best ideas when you're out living your life.
Forcing yourself to craft a brilliant idea while sitting behind your laptop will end in epic failure.
Get out and live a little.
The Hidden Truth About Video Content
It's midnight. Your eyes droop. You need to sleep but can't.
Instead, you're scrolling.
Doom-scrolling.
You can't stop. You rotate apps every 15 minutes.
TikTok ➡ Instagram ➡ YouTube Shorts.
Over and over again.
You see people, AVERAGE people, making flawless videos.
You think to yourself…
"How is everyone so damn good at public speaking?"
You see these 'talking head' videos getting THOUSANDS of views. These creators have THOUSANDS of followers.
You crave that kind of social capital.
You know video content is the best way to get it, but public speaking has never been your thing. You're just not good at it, and it pisses you off.
You scream…
"F*ck this!"
Just before launching your phone across the room.
The truth is, EVERYONE wants to make video content. The value is undeniable.
📈 Social capital
📈 Connections
📈 Money
But so many people lack the confidence to try.
Lucky for you, I've got a secret.
Video content is all smoke and mirrors.
ANYONE can make successful videos.
Here's what you need to realize.
There are two types of talking head videos:
Unscripted, and
Scripted.
Unscripted means the creator is freestyling.
It's a stream-of-consciousness video. It's raw and uncut.
This type of content is the minority of what you see on social media.
Scripted content, on the other hand, is EVERYWHERE.
If you see a flawless talking head video, chances are it's scripted content.
All scripted means is that the creator:
Wrote a script,
Recorded the performance line by line, and
Edited out EVERY non-perfect moment.
Post-production magic makes it look like one continuous take, but it's not.
Trust me - I do this ALL THE TIME.
Scripted content is 90% of what you see, folks.
Once you realize that your favorite creators are not perfect public speakers, you'll gain confidence. Let that confidence turn into action.
Instead of doom-scrolling, CREATE.
Please don't sit on the sidelines while others:
📈 Social capital
📈 Connections
📈 Money
Get in on the action and start making video content ASAP.
(PS. don't let editing be a roadblock. You can teach yourself to edit in 10 minutes. Hell, there are even apps where AI will edit for you.)
See you on socials.

Experiment Your Way to Success
You're stuck.
You spend hours writing valuable social media content, but it gets no play.
Two or three likes, TOPS - if you're lucky.
You start making excuses, like:
The market is too saturated, or
It's the algorithm's fault.
You're ready to quit. You've been consistent for months, and nothing seems to work.
Then one day, as you're scrolling through Instagram, an Einstein quote pops up on your feed. It reads,
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
You think to yourself…
"Holy sh*t!"
Week after week, you've been publishing the same content.
Sure, the subject matter changes but:
The style is the same,
The cadence is the same,
The frequency is the same,
Your posts look identical.
Hell, even your writing routine is the same. You get up early every Sunday and batch your content for three hours before going for a walk and making breakfast. Rinse and repeat - week after week.
Please listen to this - it might be the most important piece of advice I can give you.
If your content isn't working, try something new!
Here are a few examples of how you can experiment:
📖 Start with a story opener.
Begin with something like:
"You'll freak out when I tell you what happened last weekend..."
"In 2007, I made the greatest mistake of my life..."
"When I was in 2nd grade..."
Challenge yourself to tie an idea into a dramatic story.
🎥 Make a video.
Instead of your typical Twitter thread, write a video script.
A 500-word script will give you about a minute-long video.
Or, if it’s in your wheelhouse, freestyle straight from the dome.
The point is to try something new and see what happens.
🌤️ Change your location.
If you typically write in your office, write at a coffee shop.
If you typically film at your desk, film outside.
Switch things up!
Challenge yourself to do one new thing with your content every week.
If you want different results, you have to try different things!
That’s a wrap for today. See y’all next week! If that’s too long to wait (it probably is), be sure to follow me on Twitter (@BrendanBald)
